Between all of the drama that goes on within Bachelor Nation, it’s nice to know that there are some recent couples that are still going strong. Michelle, the good-natured teacher that initially won our hearts on Matt James’s season of The Bachelor, is sharing her wedding plans to marry Nayte Olukoya. Nayte, the super-freaking-tall contestant with a big smile and a love for earrings, won Michelle’s heart on her season of The Bachelorette. The two have been spotted all over Minnesota, Michelle’s home state, over the last few months and it looks like they’re ready to take the next big step. Here’s everything we know about Michelle Young and Nayte Olukoya’s wedding:
Going the Distance
Although they seem like they’re spending a lot of time together in the four months since season 18 aired, Michelle and Nayte are still long distance. Michelle still lives in Minnesota, while Nayte lives in Austin, Texas.
“When we are together, we just spend time together like nonstop so it’s nice,” Nayte, 27, gushed to Us Weekly.
And Michelle added, “If we’re not hanging out, we’re texting [or] FaceTiming. We do a lot of movie nights like over FaceTime or Zoom. We’ve been making it work. But, he’s been in Minnesota for a little bit now so it’s been nice.”
Not only do they spend time in each other’s hometowns, the couple also does lots of traveling together. Recently, they went back to the same hotel in Mexico where they got engaged.
“It was amazing. It was really weird at first because we kind of jumped back into those feelings that we had when we were on the show, you know, show anxiety,” Michelle explained.
“But once we got over that, we really just had so much fun. I feel like we’re going to make it our annual vacation spot.”
Sharing Spaces
Michelle also said she and Nayte are learning more about each other as they spend extended periods of time together. Nayte’s “therapeutic” love of doing laundry was a surprise to Michelle! They’re also still working on getting their dogs to enjoy being siblings.
“It took a minute for them to kind of get used to [each other],” Michelle said.
“[My dog] Chief wasn’t a fan of [his dog] Percy. Percy has a little too much energy I would say. But now they’re getting used [to each other] — now they actually bond and they cuddle and they play with each other so it’s been fun to see.”
Wedding Bells
Nayte previously told Us Weekly that he and Michelle would like to marry in the summer, but they probably won’t be ready until at least 2023.
“Nayte and I, we know so many different people and we have such big families and that’s a huge part of [our planning process],” Michelle divulged. “And so coming out of a pandemic… one thing that we both can’t imagine is having a small wedding,” the Minnesota native added, “and so we want to make sure that we’re completely clear of that so that’s not even a stressor for us, and then, [we want to have] warm weather [on our big day].”
“We’re definitely feeling it all out,” Nayte said, before Michelle added they’ll live together “eventually.”
On The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose, Nayte revealed that he had planned to move to Minnesota in the next two or three months as he and Michelle discussed looking for a house together. In fact, The Bachelor family gifted Michelle and Nayte a down payment on their first house together. (Michelle was caught whispering to Nayte on After the Final Rose that the check was for $200,000).
It sounds like there are great things in store for this Bachelor Nation couple! We’ll keep you posted on the planning details when we hear more about Michelle Young and Nayte Olukoya’s Wedding! 🔔💒
